Diploma of Commercial Arts (Graphic Design / Visual Communication) Graduation and Award Night
October 26, 2012Today I was made redundant as a Microbiology Team Leader. On the upside, I graduated from my Diploma of Commercial Arts (Graphic Design) and even won an award named after a fellow scientist and polymath, Leonardo Da Vinci. I’m going to see if I can get a job in either science or art (both maybe?)

The Da Vinci Award
“Named after Leonardo Da Vinci who, from relatively humble beginnings, went on to become one of the world’s most prolific and creative artists, this Award is given to students who have made the most progress during the course of their studies.”
In something totally unexpected, I won a graduation award. This CATC Design Excellence award is nominated by fellow lecturers of CATC Design School and the Award recognises the artist’s creative endeavours, who also consistently pursue their style and make the most progressive change creatively.
The Da Vinci Award
This award is extra special as prior to beginning my studies, I submitted a scholarship application which received a special mention. “Special Mention goes to the following talented applicants…” The award means I must be a fairly competent designer who has developed their own style effectively.
The award is bestowed on those who produced outstanding achievements. Yay me.
